APRIL SPECIAL OFFER - BORDEAUX FROM THE CELLAR! (no further discounts.)
A rare opportunity to save on a Grand Cru Classe Fifth Growth from one of Bordeaux’s greatest vintages!
2009 Chateau de Camensac Haut-Medoc, France – (55% Cabernet Sauvignon/45% Merlot) “One of the finest, if not the very best Camensac I have ever tasted, this wine possesses loads of black currants, black cherries, cedar wood & spice box as well as a bit of earth & underbrush. It is medium to full-bodied, very generously endowed & quite long. Anticipated maturity: now-2025.” (WA 12/11) Reg. price: $59.99, On sale in APRIL: $39.99
APRIL SPECIAL OFFER – Bergstrom Willamette Valley (no further discounts.)
Organically farmed Old Stones is the second wine of their Sigrid estate Chardonnay.
2021 Bergstrom ‘Old Stones’ Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, USA- ‘The 2021 Chardonnay Old Stones wafts up with a spicy, citrus-driven bouquet of lemon oils, hints of mint and crisp green apple. Luxuriously smooth with a pleasant inner sweetness, it flows across the palate with seductively ripe orchard fruits and sweet spices. It concludes with incredible length and potency, yet amazingly fresh with a lingering sapid fruit concentration. For all of the ripeness in this glass, the 2021 finishes with zero grams of residual sugar. What a darling.” (WA 24) Regular price: $59.99, On sale in APRIL: $35.99
APRIL SPECIAL OFFER – Reduced Alcohol Chardonnay (no further discounts.)
We love the idea of a great tasting lower alcohol wine which also means fewer calories!
Laroche ‘Le Petit’ Chardonnay IGP Pays d’Oc, France – Mas la Chevalière, which is part of the famous Domaine Laroche, makes this lower alcohol (9.5% compared to 13 to 14% for traditional Chardonnay) vegan Chardonnay from vineyards in the Orb valley and the Limoux area. It is vinted in the traditional way with a bit of alcohol removed through osmosis. It has classic aromas of white flowers and citrus and it is lighter on the palate than traditional Chardonnay but finishes with nice acidity. The lighter style makes it a great all-purpose white for the warmer months! Try a bottle while it is on sale! Regular price: $15.99, On sale in April: $9.99
NEW ARRIVALS STAFF SELECTIONS
When asked if they had any recent favorites both Jeff and Ellen immediately picked the Supermarfil
Celler Marfil Supermarfil Alella, Spain- (70% Pansa Blanca / 30 % Garnacha Blanca), From the Catalonian DO of Alella this non-vintage wine, probably due to the Garnacha Blanca coming from a solera which also causes some to call it “orange” wine, is like Peach Melba in a bottle with ripe juicy stone fruits finishing with an almond walnut nuttiness. A nice complement to aged cheese, roasted chicken or Asian cuisine. $24.99
We tasted quite a bit of wine for our Marche class and this was a standout!
2020 Borgo Paglianetto ‘Petrara’ Verdicchio di Matelica Marche, Italy – “Dusty yellow florals mix with nuances of sweet spice, crushed apples and pears as the remarkably pretty 2020 Verdicchio di Matelica Petrara slowly comes to life in the glass. It’s lifted and delicate in feel with zesty green citrus and brisk acidity that creates a reverberation of tension toward the close. Depths of salty minerality blended with sour melon lingers incredibly long through the almost-teeth-chattering finale. The 2020 Petrara is gorgeous, but it will require a short stay in your cellar to show its best.” (Review was 4 years ago and it is now perfect!)(Vinous 1/21) $18.99
